Children And Families Come First
Children’s Village is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. We focus on responding to the needs of the wonderfully diverse community of children and families we serve. Currently, more than 415 toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children are enrolled at Children’s Village.
Setting The Standard Of Excellence
Quality matters. We know that high-quality early care and education does more than prepare children for school — it prepares them for life. Children’s Village is committed to the highest standard:
- Established in 1976 as one of the first industry-related Pennsylvania-licensed child care programs in Center City Philadelphia.
- Nationally accredited since 1996 by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Children’s Village recently earned a new five-year term of NAEYC reaccreditation, achieving near-perfect scores. To learn more, visit www.NAEYC.org.

- Home to passionate, exemplary staff. Most recently, preschool teacher Ben Cady (now the Early Childhood Coordinator) was named a Ten Finalist and 2016 Terri Lynne Lokoff/Children’s TYLENOL ® National Child Care Teacher Award Winner, and the White House honored Zaina Keenan, Early Childhood Director, as a Great Educator. Mary E. Graham, Executive Director, won PennAEYC 2015 VOICE Distinguished Career Award,
- Our Nutrition Program offers healthy, well-balanced meals and snacks that are prepared daily in our on-site kitchen.
- Selected as one of ten regional recipients of a 2015 GSK IMPACT Award recognizing our outstanding contribution to a healthier Philadelphia region.
- Respects parents as children’s “primary teachers.” We learn from and support families.
- Works to ensure that all children and families thrive; Children’s Village is an early learning advocate. We are a longstanding member of the Pennsylvania Child Care Association (PACCA). - Shares expertise. Many students of early care and education as well as those pursuing advanced degrees in other areas have served their internships at Children’s Village. Teachers and administrators from other early learning programs across the region turn to us as a resource.
- Plans to achieve and maintain excellence. From selecting our curricula to assuring our sustainability, thoughtful and thorough planning keeps us on track. We are a working collaboration of volunteer Board members, administrators, teachers, parents, other volunteers, and community leaders — serving together to set goals and make program decisions that benefit children.
